Aichi-so (Yochi-so) - Echinosho

Japanese: 愛智荘(依智荘) - えちのしょう

A manor in Aichi District, Omi Province (present-day Aichi District, Shiga Prefecture). The name of the manor was the same as the name of the district, so there are many manors with the same name. (1) Kofukuji territory. Also called Aichi District Manor. Its existence is known only from around the 9th century, but details are unknown. (2) Gangoji territory (present-day Aichigawa-cho and Koto-cho area). It is said to have been established in 753-754 (Tenpyo Shoho 5-6) when Emperor Shomu purchased cultivated land from peasants with donations from the previous emperor, and consists of over 60 cho of "Hongan Manor," and purchased fields from the 9th century onwards. A field inspection register from 859 (Jogan 1) has been handed down, which records the efforts of the inspector monk Enpo, who visited the area for about 10 years and made efforts to restore the manor's decline.

近江国愛智郡(現，滋賀県愛知郡)の荘園。郡名がそのまま荘名となっているため，同名の荘園が多い。(1)弘福寺領。愛智郡荘ともいわれる。9世紀ごろ存在が知られるのみで詳細は不明。(2)元興寺領(現，愛知川町，湖東町付近)。753‐754年(天平勝宝5‐6)に聖武天皇が先帝の施入物で百姓の墾田を買得して成立したと伝えられる〈本願荘〉60余町と9世紀以後の買得田とからなる。検田使僧延保が約10年間現地に臨み，荘田の衰退を回復するために奮闘した記録である859年(貞観1)の検田帳が伝わっている。
