Adenomyosis uteri (English spelling)

...This refers to the ectopic proliferation of endometrium or endometrium-like tissue in areas other than the inner surface of the uterine cavity where it should be. The most common site of occurrence is the uterus, and there are two types of endometriosis: endometriosis endogenous (also called adenomyosis uteri), which grows within the uterine muscle layer, and endometriosis exogenous (endometriosis exogenous), which grows in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, Douglas pouch, peritoneum, sigmoid colon and rectum, fallopian tubes, uterine ligaments, rectal septum, bladder, and bladder peritoneum. What makes endometriosis, especially endometriosis exogenous, unique as a women's disease is that, although it is a benign, non-tumorous disease, it invades and destroys adjacent tissues, and also invades lymphatics and invades other tissues, causing fibrosis and strong adhesions, which can lead to pelvic organ disorders such as ovarian destruction and fallopian tube deformation, and can cause infertility.

…子宮内膜ないし内膜様組織が，本来あるべき子宮腔内面以外の部位で異所性に拡大増殖する場合をいう。好発部位としては子宮が最も多く，子宮筋層内で増殖する内性子宮内膜症(子宮腺筋症adenomyosis uteriともいう)と，卵巣，卵管，ダグラス窩（か），腹膜，S状結腸と直腸，卵管，子宮の靱帯（じんたい），直腸腔中隔，膀胱および膀胱腹膜などに増殖する外性子宮内膜症とがある。子宮内膜症とくに外性子宮内膜症が婦人の病気として特異な点は，良性の非腫瘍性の病気であるにもかかわらず，隣接組織を浸潤･破壊するとともに，リンパ性に浸潤して他の組織を侵し，繊維症，強い癒着をひき起こす結果，卵巣破壊，卵管変形などの骨盤内臓器障害を起こし，不妊症などの原因となることである。…
