…A shell shaped like an upturned cap (illustration). A general term for snail shells belonging to the families Patellidae, Acmaeidae, and Siphonariidae, or one of them. The limpet Cellana mazatlandica belongs to the family Patellidae, and has a large, cone-shaped shell measuring 5 cm in height, 7 cm in length, and 6 cm in width.
