Nikolay Ivanovich Ezhov / Nikolay Ivanovich Ezhov

A senior member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He joined the party in 1917. In 1930, as head of the Personnel Department of the Central Committee of the Party, he faithfully promoted Stalin's personnel policies and rose to prominence. In September 1936, he was appointed People's Commissar for Internal Affairs, and carried out large-scale purges under Stalin's direction. He was dismissed in December 1938, held responsible for the "excessive" repression. He is presumed to have been shot in 1939.

旧ソ連共産党幹部。1917年入党。30年より党中央委員会人事部長としてスターリンの人事政策を忠実に推進、頭角を現す。36年9月に内務人民委員に起用され、スターリンの指導下に大規模な粛清を実行。弾圧の「行きすぎ」の責任をとらされる形で、38年12月に解任。39年に銃殺と推定される。
