Ananassa - Ananassa

Japanese: アナナスサ - あななすさ
Ananassa - Ananassa

[History of cultivation]
The use of wild strawberries is very old, said to date back to the Stone Age, but their cultivation is a relatively recent development, beginning in France and Belgium in the 14th century. Later, a hybrid between the North American wild strawberry F. virginiana Duch. and the South American Chilean wild strawberry F. chiloensis (L.) Duch., called ananassa, was developed in the Netherlands in the mid-18th century, and this became the source of today's cultivated strawberries. In 1819, the first large-fruited variety was created in England, and it spread throughout Europe, mainly in England and France.
