Floating doll

Japanese: 浮人形 - うきにんぎょう

〘Noun〙① A doll is placed on top of a jar, and when the flute at the bottom of the jar is blown, the doll spins. *Essay Kiyū Shōran (1830), vol. 6 "There is a Shojyō Kozō floating doll. It is also made into a candy sculpture." ② A doll is placed on a small boat made of a slatted board, and camphor is attached to the ends of the board so that it can travel on the water. During the Bunka and Bunsei periods of the Edo period ( 1804-30 ), some dolls were equipped with sparklers and made to travel.
