…In Japan, the first copy of the entire Buddhist scriptures was made at Asuka Kawara-dera Temple in March 673 (Tenmu 2) (Nihon Shoki), but it is unclear whether it was completed and offered for memorial services. The first written mention of the entire Buddhist scriptures was in 1069 (Enkyu 1) in the Shoreisho and Ransho, and is called the Uji Issaikyo Kai or Byodo-in Issaikyo Kai. In other words, it was started by Uji Kanpaku Yorimichi at Byodo-in, and the Ransho states that it was held on February 29 of the same year, and later in March, so it was a magnificent ceremony held during the cherry blossom season. …
