This is Ito Shizuo's first collection of poems. Published by Cogito Publishing in 1935. It contains 27 poems, including "Song of the Wilderness," "Elegy for My Love," and "Memories of the Sea of Ariake." It is a mix of works that Ito himself calls "quiet satirical poems," inspired by the satirical spirit of Erich Kästner and the metaphorical expressions of the Kokinshu, and hard, fascinating works that express solitary romantic feelings in a literary context, beautifully expressing the pride and pain of youth that cannot help but be distorted in the suffocating circumstances of the times. Hagiwara Sakutaro praised Ito as "a true and essential lyric poet who truly possesses 'songs of the heart,'" and also described the poems as "poems of a wounded romantic school" and "distorted poems of Shimazaki Toson."
