In French, it is called Renaix. A city in the province of East Flanders in northwest Belgium. Located in the hills of southern Flanders, it has developed a variety of textile industries, including wool, synthetic fibers, and cotton. Ready-made clothing is also produced here. It is known for its 13th-14th century cathedrals and religious processions, and also has a seminary. It is located on the linguistic border between Dutch and French. Population 24,463 (1980).
