Founded in Leipzig in 1908 by E. Loubold, this German publishing house specializes in literary books. Its current headquarters are in Reinbek, near Hamburg. As can be seen from its active adoption of Expressionist works after World War I, it has always published current contemporary literature. In addition to publishing complete works by Musil, Tucholsky, and others, it is also active in introducing translations of foreign literature. It is particularly known for its introduction of contemporary American literature, including Faulkner and Hemingway. It also has translations of Japanese works by Jun'ichiro Tanizaki and Yukio Mishima.

1908年E.ローボルトがライプチヒに設立した文芸書を中心とするドイツの出版社。現所在地はハンブルク近郊ラインベク。第1次大戦後，表現主義文学系の作品を積極的に取りあげたことからもわかるように，常にアクチュアルな現代文学を刊行している。ムージル，トゥホルスキーなどの全集を出すかたわら，外国文学の翻訳紹介にも意欲的。ことにフォークナー，ヘミングウェーをはじめとするアメリカ現代文学の紹介に特色がある。日本の谷崎潤一郎，三島由紀夫などの翻訳もある。
