〘Noun〙 (Transliteration of karma) A Buddhist term. ① (In Tendai and Jodo sects it is called "katsuma", in Ritsu and Shingon sects it is called "konma". It can be translated as work, action, or behavior.) In the broad sense, it refers to ceremonies and manners. Usually it refers to the manners for occasions such as receiving precepts, confession , and creating barriers, and in esoteric Buddhism it is used to mean the work of the Tathagata and the dignity of the various deities. ※Daigoji Hongankoji Garan Engi and Ryuki Zaizaicho - Tenpyo 19 (747) "Also half a month, two white karma pieces ." ② Abbreviation of "Katsuma Kongo (Karma Vajra)." ※San Tendai Godaisanki (1072-73) 4 "Five Dokuko, four karma pieces, one ring, and eight katsu"

Konma [Karuma]

〘Noun〙 (Transliteration of karma. Translated as "gou" or "gosaku"). A Buddhist term. Refers to the actions taken when performing rituals based on the precepts, such as receiving precepts or repenting. It is pronounced "konma" in the temples of Nara and in the Shingon sect, and "katsuma" in the Tendai and Jodo sects. ※Tohoki (1352) 1 "The dining hall (abbreviated) orders the three monks to hold the Bodhisattva precepts together , and the Karma preaching precepts are all performed as Bodhisattva rituals. "

こんま【羯磨】
