Spanish playwright. One of Calderón's followers, most of his plays were performed at the royal court. When a state-of-the-art theater was built in the Buen Retiro Palace in 1640, The Cabal of Verona was performed at the opening. He brought a new perspective to the issue of honor, one of the central themes of the Golden Age theater, and he was the first to write a play with a female protagonist. He also created the character of an old man who tries to force a marriage between a girl in love and him. Rojas Zorrilla's works were used as a model by French playwrights such as Rotroux, Scalon, Corneille, and Le Sage.

スペインの劇作家。カルデロンの追随者の一人で，作品のほとんどは宮廷で上演された。1640年に，最新の設備をもつ劇場がブエン･レティロ宮に造られた際，その開幕に上演されたのが《ベローナの徒党》であった。〈黄金世紀〉の演劇の中心的テーマの一つである名誉の問題に新たな視点を与えたが，特に女性を主人公にした作品を書いたのは彼が最初である。また，恋する娘と無理に結婚しようとする老人という図式を創造した。このロハス･ソリーリャの作品は，フランスのロトルー，スカロン，コルネイユ，ル･サージュなどが種本として利用している。
