Belgian painter and printmaker. Born in Namur, he studied law and painting in Brussels. After moving to Paris in 1874, he worked on etching and lithography, illustrating works by Baudelaire, Barbey d'Orby, Mallarmé, and others. Many of his works are strongly symbolic, demonic, and erotic. He produced a series of copperplate prints, including "Cafés and Cabarets in Paris."
