Japanese: ロータル（英語表記）Lothal

A major ruin from the Indus Valley Civilization city period, located 80 km south of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is located along the Sabarmati River. It has a long north-south trapezoid plan (the southern side is about 100 m) and has thick city walls made of sun-dried bricks 40 to 50 m wide. The part thought to be the fort was built in the southeastern corner of the city, and has a different urban plan from Mohenjo Daro, Harappa, and Kalibangan. The fort had ablution baths and drains parallel to a well, and in one corner surrounded by this and the city wall there was a granary.

インドのグジャラート州アフマダーバード南方80kmにあるインダス文明都市期の主要遺跡。サバルマティー川に沿って位置する。南北に長い不等辺四辺形の平面を呈し(南辺は約100m)，日乾煉瓦を積んだ40～50m幅の厚い市壁をもつ。城塞と考えられる部分が市内の南東隅につくられ，モヘンジョ･ダロ，ハラッパー，カーリーバンガンと異なった都市プランをもつ。城塞は井戸と並列する沐浴室と排水溝をそなえ，これと市壁とで囲まれた一角に穀物倉があった。
