This travelogue was written by Imagawa Sadayo, who accompanied Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu on his pilgrimage to Itsukushima in 1389 (6th year of the Genchu era | 1st year of the Kouou era). It is also known as the "Record of Rokuon-in's Pilgrimage to Itsukushima" or the "Record of Rokuon-in Yoshimitsu's Pilgrimage to Itsukushima." He left the capital on March 4th, arrived at Itsukushima on the night of the 10th, and after visiting the shrine the following day on the 11th, he traveled as far as Iyo and Suo, but changed his plans to go to Kyushu midway and returned to Kyoto on March 26th. Although it was a pilgrimage to Itsukushima, it was actually a trip with a hidden political purpose of intimidating the daimyo of Sanyo and Kyushu and controlling the Seto Inland Sea.
