Meiwa [town] - Meiwa
A town in Oura County in southeastern Gunma Prefecture. It was incorporated as a town in 1998 from the village of Meiwa. Meiwa Village was established in 1955 by merging the villages of Chieda, Umejima, and Sanuki. It borders Tatebayashi City to the north and Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture, across the Tone River to the south. In the early modern period, Kawamata flourished as a river port on the Tone River and as a post town on the Nikko Kaido road. It is home to the Yajima ruins, a complex of ruins dating from the end of the middle Jomon period to the Kofun period. Cultivation of cyclamens, pears, and grapes is thriving. 19.64 km2 . Population: 11,209 (2010).

A town in Taki District, central Mie Prefecture. Located in the lower reaches of the Harai River, facing Ise Bay. Rice is the main crop, but tomatoes, cucumbers, and melons are also produced. In the fishing industry, nori farming and clam fishing are thriving. It is also a processing area for hijiki seaweed. There is a swimming beach, and the Kintetsu Yamada Line runs through the town. Area 41.04 km2 . Population 22,833 (2010).

群馬県南東部,邑楽(おうら)郡の町。1998年,明和村から町制。明和村は1955年に千江田村・梅島村・佐貫村の合併により発足した。北は館林市,南は利根川を隔てて埼玉県羽生市に接する。川俣は近世に利根川水運の河港,日光街道の脇往還宿場町として栄えた。縄文時代中期末から古墳時代までの複合遺跡である矢島遺跡がある。シクラメンやナシ・ブドウの栽培が盛ん。19.64km2。1万1209人(2010)。
