Compensation received by injured workers or surviving family members due to work-related injury, illness, disability, or death. When a worker is injured or becomes ill while working, and is left with a physical disability or dies as a result of the injury or illness, workers' compensation is provided under the Labor Standards Act or the Workers' Accident Compensation Insurance Act. The types of compensation include (1) medical treatment compensation for the treatment of injury or illness, (2) absence from work compensation in which 60% of the previous wage is paid during time off work for treatment, (3) disability compensation paid according to the degree of disability remaining when the injury or illness is cured (symptoms stabilized), and (4) survivor's compensation and funeral expenses paid to surviving family members who were living off the worker's income at the time of the worker's death.

業務上の負傷，疾病，障害，死亡を理由として被災労働者または遺族が受ける補償。労働者が仕事のうえで負傷し，病気になり，負傷や病気の結果身体障害が残り，または死亡した場合に，労働基準法または労働者災害補償保険法による労災補償が行われる。補償の種類としては，(1)傷病の療養のための療養補償，(2)療養のための休業中に従前の賃金の6割が支払われる休業補償，(3)傷病が治った(症状が固定した)場合に残った障害の程度に応じて支払われる障害補償，(4)労働者の死亡当時その収入によって生活していた遺族に支払われる遺族補償および葬祭料がある。
