〘Noun〙① A person skilled in renga. A renga writer. A person whose occupation is teaching renga. ※Tsukuba Mondo (around 1357-72) "Female renga masters such as Ben no Naishi and Shosho no Naishi" ② One of the titles of the Edo Shogunate. Those who were in charge of renga under the control of the Magistrate of Temples and Shrines. The title was hereditary in the Satomura clan (descendant of Shoha) and the Saka clan. ※Kyoto Habutae (1685) 6 "Renga master, new resident town, Satomura Masaru"
