The quantity of magnetism corresponding to the electromotive force in an electric circuit. ∫ _c H・ds , obtained by integrating the magnetic field H along a closed curve C in the magnetic field, is called the magnetomotive force related to this curve. ds is an infinitesimal portion of the curve C. According to Ampere's law, this is equal to the total amount of current flowing through the curve. Since magnetic flux is proportional to current, the magnetomotive force is proportional to magnetic flux, and the proportionality constant is called magnetic resistance. If we correspond the electromotive force to the magnetomotive force, the current to the magnetic flux, and the electrical resistance to the magnetic resistance, we can treat magnetic circuits in the same form as Ohm's law for electric circuits.
