〘名〙① 心のよくない老女。意地の悪い老女。※滑稽本・浮世風呂(1809‐13)二「おらが所(とこ)の悪婆(アクバ)は、ホンニホンニいびいびこごとの本家だらうぞ」② (形動) ひどくたちの悪い性質。また、そういう女。女性をののしって呼ぶ語としても用いる。※歌舞伎・彩入御伽草(1808)小平次内の場「あまならば河が聞いて呆(あき)れるワ、とんだ悪婆だ」※歌舞伎・木間星箱根鹿笛(1880)三幕「なんぼ悪婆(アクバ)なわたしでも、今迄世話になったと思やあ、いい心持はしないのさ」③ 歌舞伎の役柄の一つ。女形で悪事を働く中年以上の役。束ね髪に広袖の半纏(はんてん)を着るなど、扮装に定型があった。※歌舞伎・桜姫東文章(1817)大詰「こいつはお姫様の中へ、悪婆を等分に浚ひ込んだから」
