Greek potter and ceramic painter. He was active in Athens from the end of the 6th century BCE to the beginning of the 5th century BCE. He depicted people and their costumes with a delicate and elegant touch, pioneering a new technique in red-figure pottery painting. ギリシアの陶工，陶画家。前6世紀末から前5世紀のはじめにかけてアテナイで活躍。繊細かつ流麗なタッチで人物や衣装を表現し，赤絵式陶画に新しい画法を開拓した。とくに人物の表現において短縮遠近法を用いたことで有名。彼の署名のある作品が6点残っている。【前田 正明】
