Austro-Turkish War - Austro-Turkish War
A general term for the armed conflicts between the two countries that took place intermittently from the beginning of the 16th century to the end of the 18th century. After conquering the Balkans in the 15th century, the Ottoman Empire established diplomatic relations with European countries by granting capitulations to France, Great Britain, and other countries, but it had no such relations with Austria and Russia, and adopted the method of resolving conflicts through force. The Ottoman Empire's attacks on Central Europe began during the reign of Suleiman I. With Hungary weakening after blocking the Turkish army's northward advance for over a century and with a request for support from King Francis I of France, who was fighting against the Holy Roman Emperor, the Sultan invaded Hungary and won a decisive victory at the Battle of Mohács in 1526.
