Rubeshibe [town] - Rubeshibe
A former town in Tokoro County, eastern Hokkaido. Located west of Kitami City and connected to the Sekihoku Main Line, the town produces onions, wheat, vegetables, and sugar beets in the lowlands along the Muka River. There are abundant forests in the mountains, and lumber is produced here. There is Onneyu Hot Spring, and National Route 39 runs through Sekihoku Pass to Daisetsuzan National Park. In March 2006, the town was incorporated into Kitami City along with Tokoro Town and Tanno Town in Tokoro County. Area: 564.69 km2 . Population: 9,168 (2003).
