Hokkiji Temple

Japanese: 法起寺 - ほっきじ

A Shotoku sect temple in Okamoto, Ikaruga-cho, Nara Prefecture, also known as Okamoto-dera or Ikejiri-dera. It is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku. The three-story pagoda, a national treasure, was completed in 706 and has many similarities to the five-story pagoda of Horyu-ji Temple in terms of its dimensions and joinery, making it a valuable example of the Asuka style. The pagoda and main hall were arranged east to west, in the so-called Hoki-ji style. There is also a bronze standing bodhisattva statue from the Asuka period. Excavations were carried out in 1960-1961 and 1968.

奈良県斑鳩(いかるが)町岡本にある聖徳宗の寺で，岡本寺，池後(いけじり)寺とも。聖徳太子の建立と伝える。国宝の三重塔は706年完成とされ，平面の寸法や組物など法隆寺の五重塔と類似点が多く，飛鳥様式を伝えるものとして貴重。塔と金堂を東西に置く，いわゆる法起寺式伽藍(がらん)配置をとっていた。ほかに飛鳥時代の銅造菩薩立像がある。1960年―1961年，および1968年に発掘調査。
