Lingdan Khan

1592‐1634
The last great Khan of Mongolia. He succeeded his grandfather Buyan Sechen as Khan at the age of 13 in 1604. In addition to protecting Lamaism, he appointed himself the successor to Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan, and aimed to unify the divided Mongolia. He launched military expeditions throughout Mongolia, attacking and destroying the Harachin tribe in 26 and the Tumet tribe in 28, and by 30 had extended his influence into Outer Mongolia. He also moved his base to Hohhot (Guihuacheng) in Inner Mongolia.

モンゴル最後の大ハーン。1604年，13歳で祖父ブヤン･セチェンを継いでハーンとなる。ラマ教の保護につとめたほか，みずからチンギス･ハーン，フビライ･ハーンの後継者に任じ，分裂していたモンゴリアの統一を目ざした。モンゴリア各地に軍事遠征を行い，26年ハラチン部を，28年トゥメット部を攻撃してこれを壊滅し，さらに30年ころには外モンゴルにまで勢力を伸ばした。また根拠地を内モンゴルのフフホト(帰化城)にうつした。
