Yongning Temple Pagoda - Yongning Temple Pagoda (English)

Japanese: 永寧寺塔 - えいねいじとう（英語表記）Yŏng níng sì tǎ

Located within the Northern Wei city of Luoyang, this is one of the tallest towers in the history of Chinese architecture. Construction began in 516 (Xiping 1) and was completed in 519 (Shengui 2). The carpenter was Guo Anxing. It burned down in 534 (Yongxi 3). It is a square, wooden, nine-story pagoda with a golden jar and eleven-tiered pagoda on top, and people could climb to the top. Recent excavations have revealed that the base is 38.2m square and 2.2m high, with nine bays between each bay and four pillars at the four corners of the innermost and outermost circumference, for a total of 124 pillars, and a plan of seven bays square was discovered that was covered with sun-dried bricks.

北魏の洛陽城内にあった中国建築史上有数の高大な塔。516年(熙平1)着工，519年(神亀2)竣工。工匠は郭安興。534年(永熙3)焼失。方形，木造の九重塔で，塔刹に金の宝瓶と十一重の相輪をのせ，上層まで人が登れた。近年の発掘調査により，38.2m四方，高さ2.2mの基壇で，柱間9間四方，最内周と最外周の4隅に4本柱を立て，計124本の柱が林立し，このうち7間四方分を日乾煉瓦でふさいだ平面が検出された。
