This is the diary of Tamon'in Eishun, a scholar of Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara, and others. The original has been lost, but many copies remain, including the 46-volume version owned by Kofuku-ji Temple. It spans the years from 1478 (Bunmei 10) to 1618 (Genna 4), but "Bunmei Juunenki" and "Bunmei Jugo Juroku Jushi Nananaiki" were written by Gakkenbo Sogei, "Tensho Hajime Goshikataki" were written by Myokiin Soei, and there are also some parts such as "Eisho Ni Sannenki" where the author is unknown. The main part is Eishun's diary, and it spans the years from 1534 (Tenbun 3) to 1596 (Keicho 1). The contents of the diary mainly cover the situation inside and outside Kofuku-ji Temple, and also cover incidents in Yamato and Yamashiro, making it an important historical document of the transition period from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. There are five published volumes of the Tamon-in Diary (edited by Tsuji Zennosuke). [Koizumi Yoshisuke] Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
