Saori [town] - Saori

Japanese: 佐織[町] - さおり

A former town in Ama County, western Aichi Prefecture. It is located in the central-southern Nobi Plain. Rice and flowers are cultivated, and ginger is a specialty. It is the birthplace of Saorijima (cotton fabric), and the woolen textile industry is currently thriving. The Meitetsu Bisai Line runs through the town. In April 2005, it merged with Saya Town, Tatsuta Village, and Hachikai Village in Ama County to become Aisai City. Area: 11.12 ^km2 . Population: 23,206 (2003).
