Japanese: 林業労働 - りんぎょうろうどう

Forestry work consists mainly of productive work such as afforestation and logging, as well as conservation work such as tree seedling training, conservation work, and erosion control works. Although it is mainly done by men, light work such as transporting seedlings and training them is sometimes done by women. Women are heavily involved not only in timber production, but also in the production of mushrooms such as shiitake and nameko, and in the gathering of wild plants such as bracken and ferns. Afforestation work is divided into site preparation, planting, weeding, pruning, thinning, etc., and, except for weeding, not much mechanization is used.

林業労働は造林，伐出などの生産労働が主で，ほかに樹苗養成労働，保護労働，治山工事などの保全労働がある。主として男子労働によるが，苗木の運搬，苗木養成などの軽労働は女子労働によることもある。木材の生産だけでなく，シイタケ，ナメコなどのキノコ類の生産，ワラビ，ゼンマイなどの山菜の採取労働についても女子労働の関与する部面は大きい。造林労働は地ごしらえ，植付け，下刈り，枝打ち，間伐などに分かれ，機械化は下刈りを除き多くない。
