Lü Hui-qing (English: Lü Hui-ch`ing)

Japanese: 呂恵卿 - りょけいけい（英語表記）Lü Hui-qing; Lü Hui-ch`ing

A traitorous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty in China. A native of Jinjiang, Quanzhou (Jinjiang County, Fujian Province). His courtesy name was Jifu. He initially gained the trust of Wang Anshi and participated in the creation of the New Law, and even recommended him as assistant governor when Anshi retired from his position as prime minister. However, as soon as Anshi lost his position, he betrayed him, and fearing that Anshi would return to power, he did everything he could to obstruct it. At the same time, he misused the New Law to enrich himself. It is even said that the New Law ultimately failed because Anshi favored the unprincipled and petty Lu Huiqing. He died at the age of 80 during the Chongning era (1102-1106).

中国，北宋の姦臣。泉州晋江 (福建省晋江県) の人。字は吉甫。初め王安石の信任を得て新法制定に参画し，安石が相位を去るとき，彼を参知政事に推したほどである。しかし安石が相位を失うとたちまち裏切り，安石の復活を恐れてあらゆる手段で妨害した。一方，新法を悪用して私腹を肥やした。新法が結局失敗に終ったのは，安石がこの無節操の小人呂恵卿を重用したことにあるとさえいわれている。崇寧年間 (1102～06) に，80歳で没した。
