...Drumming arts are found in Okinawa and Yaeyama. The Taafuakuu traditional art of Nakagusuku Village on Okinawa Island and the Rojiraku traditional art of Nakijin Village both involve playing the Chinese instrument Tsuona (charumera), the former with drums, gongs and gongs, the latter with small drums, and both claim to have been introduced from China. The Oodori traditional art of Tsuken Island was modeled after the mainland drumming dance, showing the diversity of Okinawan performing arts.
