Heymans
Belgian physiologist. Graduated from Ghent University. Later became a professor at the same university. Discovered the afferent nerves that go from the carotid artery to the vasomotor center. Contributed to elucidating the mechanisms that control blood pressure, breathing, etc. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1938.
