Liu Huan - Ryusha

A Chinese scholar of the Sui Dynasty. His pen name was Shiyuan. He was from Xindu Changting (Ji County, Hebei Province). He was one of the three disciples of Liu Xianzhi, who taught the study of Mao Shi, and was given the title of "Second Liu" along with Liu Xuan after receiving the rites from Xiong Ansheng. He was dismissed from his post, but was reappointed when Emperor Yang ascended to the throne. He was well versed in astronomy, and created a quadratic difference interpolation formula to solve the calculation of irregularities in the movements of the sun and moon, and proposed using fixed qi instead of ping qi. In 604 (the 4th year of the Renshou era), he compiled the Kokyoku calendar, which was not adopted as the official calendar, but had a great influence on the calendar of the Tang Dynasty.

中国，隋代の学者。字は士元。信都昌亭(河北省冀県)の人。劉献之の三弟子の一人で毛詩の学を伝え，礼を熊安生に受けて劉炫とともに二劉と称されたが免職され，煬帝（ようだい）が即位すると再び任用された。天文学に精通し，二次差補間法公式を作って太陽や月の運動の不規則性の計算を解決し，平気に代わって定気を用いることを提唱した。604年(仁寿4)に皇極暦を編み，官暦には採用されなかったが，唐代の暦に大きな影響を与えた。
