Fujiwara no Hideyasu

A warrior in the early Kamakura period. He was a trusted vassal of Emperor Gotoba, and served in the West, North, and Takiguchi regions. His father was Kawachi no Kami Hidemune. His mother was the daughter of Iga no Kami Minamoto no Mitsumoto. He gained the Emperor's trust by achieving success in the construction of the Shishinden Palace and other palace buildings, including the stables of Emperor Toba. He became the governor of various provinces, including Bitchu, Bingo, Mimasaka, Echigo, Wakasa, Awaji, Iga, Kawachi, and Noto, and served as an official in the Efu. In the Jokyu War of 1221 (Jokyu 3), Hideyasu was appointed commander-in-chief and led the troops of the Imperial Court together with his brother Hidezumi. Hideyasu rallied Miura Taneyoshi, a retainer in Kyoto, to his side, and made plans to join forces with Miura Taneyoshi's brother, Miura Yoshimura, to defeat the regent Hojo Yoshitoki. Following the Imperial decree, Taneyoshi gathered troops from the Kinai region and launched a surprise attack on Iga Mitsusue, the guardian of Kyoto. Hideyasu sent Yoshimura the Imperial decree and a letter from Taneyoshi, urging him to pursue and kill Yoshitoki, but Yoshimura did not respond, instead supporting the shogunate and sending his troops westward. Hideyasu failed to defend himself at the Owari River and Uji River. He fled, but was captured in Sanra, Kawachi Province (Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture) in October of the same year, sent to Rokuhara, and executed.

鎌倉初期の武士。後鳥羽院(ごとばいん)の近臣で、西面(さいめん)・北面(ほくめん)・滝口(たきぐち)の武士などを勤めた。父は河内守(かわちのかみ)秀宗(ひでむね)。母は伊賀守(いがのかみ)源光基(みつもと)の女(むすめ)。紫宸殿(ししんでん)をはじめ鳥羽殿の厩(うまや)など諸殿舎造進の功をたてて院の信任を得、備中(びっちゅう)、備後(びんご)、美作(みまさか)、越後(えちご)、若狭(わかさ)、淡路(あわじ)、伊賀(いが)、河内(かわち)、能登(のと)など諸国の国守となり、衛府の官を歴任した。1221年（承久3）の承久(じょうきゅう)の乱にあたっては総大将に任ぜられ、弟秀澄(ひでずみ)とともに院方の軍勢を率いて戦った。秀康は在京中の御家人(ごけにん)三浦胤義(たねよし)を味方に引き入れ、その兄三浦義村(よしむら)と連携して執権北条義時(よしとき)を討つ計画をたてた。胤義は院宣に従い畿内(きない)の兵を集め京都守護伊賀光季(みつすえ)を急襲。秀康は義村に院宣と胤義の書状を送って義時追討を促したが、義村はこれに応ぜず、幕府を支持し逆に幕軍を西上させた。秀康は尾張川、宇治川と、もろくも防戦に失敗。逃亡したが同年10月河内国讃良(さんら)（大阪府寝屋川(ねやがわ)市）で捕らえられ、六波羅(ろくはら)に送られて斬殺(ざんさつ)された。
