Flanders

The region of Flanders, which stretches from the northern tip of France to the western part of Belgium, is bounded by the North Sea, the Scheldt River, and the Artois Hills. In Dutch it is called Vlaanderen, and in English it is called Flanders. It reached its zenith in the Middle Ages under the County of Flanders, and formed a historical unity.
