Ryuunmon

Japanese: 流雲文 - りゅううんもん

A pattern that was widely used in the Han dynasty of ancient China, mainly for the border decoration of bronze mirrors and stone images, and sometimes for other objects. It is thought to have evolved from the dragon pattern, and like the electric light pattern, the vestiges of the legs, neck, and body of birds and animals such as dragons have disappeared, and the pattern is streamlined, with continuous, flowing curves progressing in a regular pattern. At first glance, it may appear to be wavy or arabesque-like, and its form laid the foundation for the arabesque pattern that became popular in later periods. It is used as an indicator for classifying bronze mirrors from the Late Han period, such as the Four Gods Mirror and the Animal Belt Mirror.

中国古代の漢代に，銅鏡や画像石などを主に，ときには他の器物において，縁飾に盛んに使用された文様。竜文から変化した文様と考えられ，電気文のように竜など鳥獣の足，首，胴のなごりがなくなって便化され，流れるような曲線が連続進行して，規則的に展開していく文様で，一見，波状文や，唐草文風の形にも見られるようなことがあり，形態的に後代の唐草文流行の素地になっていた。後漢時代の四神鏡，獣帯鏡などの銅鏡を分類するときに一つの指標とされる。
