Livingstone Falls - Chutes de Livingstone

Japanese: リビングストン滝 - りびんぐすとんたき（英語表記）Chutes de Livingstone

A collective name for 32 waterfalls on the lower Congo (Zaire) River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in central Africa. The falls fall about 275 meters over a 350 km stretch between the capital Kinshasa and the port city of Matadi near the mouth of the river. In 1877, Stanley successfully passed through the falls by ship. Oceangoing ships can only sail as far as Matadi, and there is a railroad connection between Matadi and Kinshasa. The Inga Dam has been built at Inga Falls, upstream of Matadi.

アフリカ中部、コンゴ民主共和国（旧ザイール）のコンゴ（ザイール）川下流にかかる32の滝の総称。首都キンシャサと河口近くの港湾都市マタディの間の約350キロメートルの区間で、およそ275メートル落下する。1877年、スタンリーが船で通過することに成功した。外洋船はマタディまでしか入航できず、キンシャサとの間は鉄道で連絡している。マタディの上流にあるインガ滝にインガ・ダムが建設されている。
