Italian painter. He was active in his hometown of Forlì, Rome, Loreto, and Urbino, and created murals and ceiling paintings. He is said to have studied under Piero della Francesca. He excelled in spatial composition using linear perspective, particularly in setting the viewpoint low and depicting the figures in the painting using foreshortening. His rich colors demonstrate his keen sensibility, but since there are few surviving works, he is not highly regarded in art history. His representative works include "Sixtus IV Appointing Platina Librarian at the Vatican" (1477, Vatican Museums).

イタリアの画家。生地フォルリ，ローマ，ロレート，ウルビノで活躍し，壁画，天井画を手がける。ピエロ･デラ･フランチェスカに師事したともいわれる。線的遠近法による空間構成を見せ，ことに視点を低く設定し，画中人物を短縮法で描く技術に優れる。その豊麗な色彩は彼が鋭敏な感性を備えていたことを物語るが，現存作品が少ないこともあって，美術史上の評価は十分に高いとはいえない。代表作は《プラティナをバチカン図書館司書に任命するシクストゥス4世》(1477，バチカン美術館)など。
