Generally, coal is classified by size at the coal preparation plant and sold as lump coal, medium lump coal, fine coal, etc. However, coal that is not washed and therefore contains rubbish and other materials is called "cut coal" and is relatively cheap. There is also "cut coal" which is a product made by mixing lumps and powder after washing, and in this case the former is called "unsorted cut coal". 一般に石炭は選炭工場でサイズ別に分類，塊炭，中塊炭，粉炭などとして販売するが，選炭しない，したがってぼた（ずり）などの混じった石炭を切込炭といい比較的安価である。また選炭後，塊・粉を混合してつくる商品切込炭があり，この場合は前者を未選切込炭という。
