Carnivora, Felidae. Body length 70cm, tail length 40cm. Body is gray-brown with a dark stripe down the center of the back and black ring patterns on the tail and legs. It is mainly nocturnal and preys on small animals. It is found in southern Europe, Africa, and Asia. The domestic cat (catus catus) is believed to be a domesticated version of this species.
