1847‐1936 A British leader in the early days of the Theosophical Society movement, alongside Blavatsky, Olcott and Besant. He worked to make Jiddu Krishnamurti the messianic figure and to evangelise him, but in his later years he moved to Australia and presided over the Free Catholic Association, which was based on the Theosophical Society. His main work, Man, Visible and Invisible (1902), was translated by Ima Toko and published before the Second World War.
