Permanent Revolution (Russia)

This theory holds that the revolution aimed at realizing a communist society by the proletariat is carried out in perpetuity. It is also called permanent revolution, and because its scale is considered to be global, it can be considered in conjunction with world revolution. Marx and Lenin also used this term, but Trotsky in particular refined the theory. He considered it to be one with the world revolution, arguing that for the proletariat to carry out a socialist revolutionary dictatorship in Russia, a peasant country, a permanent internal struggle with the peasants and the bourgeoisie is inevitable, and that this is impossible without the political liberation and assistance of the proletariat in advanced Europe. After 1924, when Stalin's theory of socialism in one country was developed, this theory was in direct opposition to it, but was eliminated with the establishment of the Stalin regime. Mao Zedong's thought, which places importance on the peasantry, also develops a kind of theory of permanent revolution from the perspective of the perpetuity of the process of change in human consciousness.

プロレタリアートによる共産主義社会の実現をめざす革命は永続的に遂行される，とする理論。永続革命ともいい，その規模を世界的な広がりで考えるところから，世界革命と合わせて考えられる
マルクス・レーニンもこの言葉を用いたが，特にトロツキーが理論の純化をはかった。彼は，農民の国ロシアでプロレタリアートが社会主義的革命独裁を遂行するには，農民をはじめブルジョワジーとの永続的な内部闘争が不可避であり，先進ヨーロッパにおけるプロレタリアートの政治的解放と援助なしには不可能だとして，世界革命と一体的なものとした。1924年以後，スターリンの一国社会主義論が展開されると，これと真向から対立したが，スターリン体制の確立によりこの理論も排除された。また，農民を重視する毛沢東思想は，人間意識の変革過程の永続性という点から，一種の永続革命論を展開している。
