Uranium City
A city in northwestern Saskatchewan, Canada, near Beaverlodge Lake. Population 2,147 (1976). The surrounding area is known for its rich uranium ore, and was built in the early 1950s by the Eldorado Mining and Smelting Company. Saskatchewan, with Uranium City at its center, is the largest producer of uranium in Canada. It is connected by air to Edmonton, the capital of Alberta. [Yuko Ohara]
