Lokris (English spelling)

Japanese: ロクリス（英語表記）Lokris

An ancient name for a region in central Greece. It was divided into two parts: the eastern part, located on the Gulf of Euboea, called Lokris Opountia, and the western part, including the northern shore of the Gulf of Corinth and the Amfissa Gorge, called Lokris Ozolis. This was because the Phocians later invaded the Locrians, and the area was constantly plagued by invasions from neighboring areas, but the two areas shared the same citizenship. The Locrians played a minor role in Greek history, but they did establish the first Greek colonies (Lokroi Epizephyrioi) in southern Italy around the 8th century BC.

ギリシア中部の古代地名。2地域に分かれ，東はエウボイア湾側でロクリス･オプンティアLokris Opountia，西はコリントス湾北岸とアンフィッサ峡谷を含みロクリス･オゾリスLokris Ozolisとよばれていた。これはロクリス人の間に後からフォキス人が侵入したためで，以後も絶えず近隣の侵略に悩まされたが，東西で同じ市民権を保持した。ロクリス人はギリシア史上たいした役割は果たしていないが，前8世紀ころ南イタリアに最初のギリシア人植民市(ロクロイ･エピゼフュリオイLokroi Epizephyrioi)を建設している。
