What distinguishes remote measurement from ordinary measurement is that there is a distance between the place where the measured quantity is directly detected and the place where it is indicated, recorded, etc., and that measures are taken to overcome the problems that come with the distance, such as significant attenuation of the transmitted signal, noise contamination of the signal, and the cost of the transmission line. The length of the distance does not determine whether it is called remote measurement or not. …
