A politician from the Goryeo Dynasty, Korea. Born in Soseong-hyeon (Inju). After passing the civil service examination in 1024 (the 15th year of King Hyeonjong's reign), he rose steadily through the ranks, becoming the Prime Minister in 1055 (the 9th year of King Munjong's reign). Although he did not achieve anything particularly noteworthy as a politician, he is known as the person who laid the foundation for the prosperity of the Inju Yi clan. After Yi Ja-yeon's three daughters became empresses of King Munjong, the Inju Yi clan deepened their ties with the royal family and continued to exert great influence on the royal court for over 80 years, up until King Injong, over seven generations. The Inju Yi clan was a representative aristocratic clan in Goryeo, and other notable contemporary clans include the Ansan Kim clan, the Papyeong Yun clan, the Haeju Choi clan, and the Gyeongju Kim clan, and the politics of the early Goryeo period were mainly run by these aristocratic clans.

朝鮮，高麗の政治家。邵城県(仁州)の人。1024年(顕宗15)科挙に合格して以来，順調に昇進して55年(文宗9)には門下侍中すなわち首相となった。政治家としてとりたてていうべき事績はないが，いわゆる仁州李氏繁栄の基礎をきずいた人物として知られる。李子淵の3人の娘が文宗の妃となって以後，仁宗までの7代80余年間にわたり，仁州李氏は王室との姻戚関係を深め，朝廷に大きな影響力を保持し続けたのである。仁州李氏は高麗における代表的な門閥貴族であり，その他に当代の名門として安山金氏，坡平尹氏，海州崔氏，慶州金氏などが知られているが，高麗前期の政治は主として彼ら門閥貴族によって運営されていた。
