...The wide range of subjects and techniques, from Yamato-e to Chinese painting, became the basis for the development of the Kano school after Motonobu. The only known relic is the "Statue of a Warrior on Horseback" (a statue of Shogun Yoshihisa) at Jizo-in Temple, which was created using Yamato-e techniques. In contrast, most of the traditional works are ink paintings, such as "Screen with Bamboo, Stones and White Cranes" (Shinjuan), "Zhou Maoshu's Love Lotus" and "Hotei Below the Cliff." Although the styles of the works are different, the simplicity and brightness shared by them indicate a transition to early modern painting. ...
