An inlet in the western Mediterranean Sea, northwest of Italy. In English, it is called the Ligurian Sea. It is bounded by the coast from Liguria to Cape Biombino in Tuscany in the north, a line connecting the northernmost tip of Elba and Corsica in the south, and a line connecting the Italian-French border and Corsica in the west. It is 2000-2800m deep, and its northern tip is called the Gulf of Genoa.
