Boreal coniferous forest

...Currently, mountain coniferous forests are called mountain taiga, and its southern limit extends south of the line in the western Altai, the Sayan, the Sikhote-Alin, and Hokkaido. In a broader sense, the term taiga or mountain taiga also includes the subarctic forests of Scandinavia, Canada, and Alaska, which are called boreal coniferous forests or simply boreal forests in Western Europe and North America, and the coniferous forests of the Alps, Himalayas, and other high mountains. The taiga is the largest forest area on Earth, covering more than one-third of the total forest area, of which 55% is in Eurasia and 40% is in North America.
