A bay in the northwestern Mediterranean Sea of Europe. It stretches from Cap Creus in Spain in the west to the Rhône River delta in France in the east. Its depth is shallow, less than 200 meters. From the west, it borders the regions of Roussillon, Languedoc, and Camargue. It has a continuous sandy beach and a lagoon called "Étang," and although there are few ports, the main ports are Sète and Port-Bandles. The climate is mild, with average temperatures of 13°C in winter and 22°C in summer, and in recent years it has been developed as an alternative resort to the Côte d'Azur.
